A 5-year-old Goddard girl who was critically injured in a Friday morning crash on West Kellogg has died, a house manager at Via Christi Hospital St. Francis said Saturday.

Alexandra Thimesch, two of her brothers and her mother were hospitalized after the family’s minivan pulled in front of a Pontiac sedan and was struck shortly after 7 a.m., according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Alexandra died from her injuries Saturday afternoon, the hospital house manager said. Her brothers, ages 11 and 7, were listed in fair condition early Saturday evening.

The children’s mother, 36, had been treated and released Friday.

Authorities said Friday that the girl apparently was sitting on the side of the minivan that sustained the brunt of the impact. She had stopped breathing at the scene, a Sedgwick County dispatcher has said, but was resuscitated before being rushed to St. Francis by ambulance.

The crash happened as the minivan attempted to turn north onto 151st Street West off of Kellogg, according to the highway patrol.
