A 52-year-old man is in critical condition at a local hospital after an early morning crash in north Wichita, police said.

The man was driving north on St. Francis at about 3:20 a.m. when he came to a “T” intersection at 33rd Street North and did not navigate the turn, Lt. Dan East said. The 1995 Dodge truck went into the ditch and crashed.

The driver suffered head and chest injuries, East said. He was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis for treatment.

There’s no indication alcohol or speed were factors in the crash, East said. Investigators are checking to see if a medical condition played a role in the crash.
