Renewable portfolio standard supporters are really saying to keep the wealth transfer from taxpayers and ratepayers going because it benefits a few Kansas taxing authorities, businesses, employees and farmers.

How does one “slip” 23 pages into a House bill without leadership or anyone else knowing about it? Are additions being slipped into every bill sent through our Legislature?

Please tell me the health insurance premiums that I struggle to pay are not covering the cost of the catered lunches I see regularly delivered to a local hospital.

They worried about the secondhand smoke outside the bus station. What about the exhaust from the buses? What is really killing you?

Idiocy and bigotry aren’t the reasons the United States is losing respect in the world. I can sum it up in six words: Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry.

Putin invaded Georgia when George W. Bush was president. Nobody ever accused Bush of being weak or unwilling to use military force. Obama is calibrating the response according to the broad interests of the United States and its allies, and seeking to restrain Russian ambitions without incurring grave costs.

What do the NCAA selection committee and Obama have in common? (1) spiteful; (2) prejudiced; (3) nontransparent; (4) dishonest; or (5) all of the above?

As soon as Gov. Sam Brownback started bragging about the state of Kansas being the “cradle of basketball,” I knew all the state schools were in trouble.

A No. 1 seed is supposed to beat a No. 8 seed. The other No. 1 seeds all won. Why are people happy that the Shockers played a close game and lost to a team it should have beaten?

If the Shockers are going to be a powerhouse now in college basketball (which I hope they will be), they had better get some thick skin because everyone will take a shot at them.

If WSU wants to play in the power conferences with the big dogs, it needs to resurrect football. Now is the time to raise the money.

Has anyone suggested a citywide celebration to honor the Shockers and the thrilling season they gave us? They carried more than the ball. They lifted this city up in every single game.

Go to the Wichita Symphony, and you will never be disappointed or feel the need to leave at intermission. It is as fine a group as any I’ve ever seen.
