The Thunder beat the Oilers 3-2 on Saturday night in Tulsa and moved within four points of the Oilers for the final spot in the CHL playoffs.

Both teams have five games left in the regular season. Tulsa has lost five of its last six games — including three of four to Wichita —and slipped to eighth place in the standings, a point behind Arizona. The top eight teams make the playoffs. Tulsa has 63 points, Wichita has 59.

After a scoreless first period, Erick Lizon gave the Thunder a 1-0 lead with a goal at 1:12 of the second period — the game’s only even-strength goal. Tomas Klempa made it 2-0 midway through the period, then Tulsa cut it to 2-1 with 1:22 remaining in the second.

Mike WIlson’s goal at 13:48 of the third gave Wichita a two-goal edge. Tulsa cut the lead to one less than two minutes later, but never scored the equalizer.

The Thunder returns home to face Tulsa on Saturday, then plays host to Allen on Sunday in the final home game of the regular season. The schedule wraps up with three gamres at Arizona.
