After a scoreless first period, Erick Lizon gave the Thunder a 1-0 lead with a goal at 1:12 of the second period — the game’s only even-strength goal. Tomas Klempa made it 2-0 midway through the period, then Tulsa cut it to 2-1 with 1:22 remaining in the second.

Mike WIlson’s goal at 13:48 of the third gave Wichita a two-goal edge. Tulsa cut the lead to one less than two minutes later, but never scored the equalizer.
