Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred Thursday night in Wichita.

Officers on patrol heard several shots fired near 23rd and Chautauqua at about 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Lt. Dan East said. That’s northwest of 21st and Hillside.

As they headed toward the sound of gunfire, residents in the area began calling 911 to report shots in the area, East said. The officers found a house in the 2400 block of North Chautauqua that had been struck several times by bullets.

There were three adults in the house at the time of the shooting, but they escaped injury, East said. He did not know if the shooting was gang-related.
