Tanner Dearman had four hits and Tyler Baker added three as Wichita State defeated Arizona State 12-9 Wednesday night in Tempe, Ariz.

The victory snapped a six-game losing streak to Arizona State. It was the Shockers’ first win against the Sun Devils since 2003. ASU leads the series 16-8.

Dearman opened the game with a double and added three singles. In all, he reached base five straight times until grounding out in the ninth. He scored four runs.

Baker opened the second with a double and added a pair of singles, scoring three times. He also drove in three runs.

WSU broke the game open with a five-run fifth, sending 10 batters to the plate. The Shocks were helped by three bases-loaded walks.

Notes: WSU finishes its six-game road trip with a 3-3 record.… The Shocks handed ASU three runs in the first. With two outs, Brian Serven lifted a fly ball to left-center. Left fielder Dearman and center fielder Micah Green miscommunicated and the ball dropped between them. Then Christopher Beall hit a weak fly ball that shortstop Tanner Kirk circled under then lunged to make the catch. The ball popped out of his glove and Beall was given a double.… Casey Gillaspie was prevented from getting an RBI when he hit a drive to center field in the fifth with the bases loaded. Kirk, who was on third, broke for home, and when the catch was made in center he had to retreat to third.… Dayne Parker finished the road trip 11 for 23 (.478).
