Butler shut down its second consecutive opponent at the NJCAA women’s basketball tournament, beating Shelton State (Ala.) 51-39 on Wednesday in Salina.

The Grizzlies advance to the quarterfinals, where they will face No. 2 seed Chipola (Fla.) at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Butler held Shelton State to 31.9 percent shooting (15 of 47) for the game, and 13 first-half points. In Monday’s opening round Butler held Southwest Mississippi to 31 points and 15.4 percent shooting.
