No water on Wichita State University campus

Wichita State University is without water – for the rest of Wednesday afternoon and night.

An e-mail was sent late Wednesday afternoon saying the entire campus is affected by repairs to a water line.

“Because of a valve stem break off the main 24-inch city of Wichita water line running across the east side of campus, that 24-inch line will have to be taken out of service to make repairs,” the e-mail said.

Although the water shutdown will affect water service to the entire campus, it is not catastrophic news – the university is on spring break, said Joe Kleinsasser, director of news and media relations at WSU.

The repairs were expected to be made and water service was expected to resume on Thursday, the e-mail said.
