Haysville is asking drivers on one of its main thoroughfares to expect delays after a road project begins Monday.

The first phase of the East Grand Avenue Reconstruction Project will close two of four lanes between Broadway and Main Street and reduce the speed limit to 25 mph. The city, in a news release, is asking citizens to plan extra travel time or take alternate routes as the construction progresses. Each day nearly 13,000 motorists drive the stretch of Grand, known as 71st Street South outside of Haysville city limits, the city said.

The completed project, expected to take as long as seven months, will include smoother lanes on Grand, improved storm water drainage and a 10-foot multi-use path flanked with antique-style lighting along the north side of the street, the city said.
