The Safari apparently did surfing duty at some point during its West Coast lifespan, as evidenced by several surfboard decals on its glass. It was also delivered with a surfboard rack bolted to the roof.
Ray Hall, a longtime Pontiac fan, took a chance and bought his beautiful 1956 Safari wagon sight-unseen, relying on photographs and phone calls to the previous owner. He was thrilled when it was delivered from Washington state, saying, `I just love it.'
The interior of the Safari remains basically stock, with only a Grant custom steering wheel added to the package. It will soon be replaced by a factory original wheel. Note the underdash air conditioning unit.
