Electronically filed federal tax returns increase in Kansas

The Internal Revenue Service said the number of federal tax returns filed electronically from Kansas are up 8 percent from a year ago.

More than 589,000 federal tax returns from the state have been filed electronically through March 7, the IRS said in a news release this week. Of those, more than 266,000 were filed through a home computer, it said.

The IRS also said more than 580,000 Kansans have electronically filed their state tax returns.
