Tanner Kirk struck out four times but made his one hit count as Wichita State beat Oklahoma State 6-4 on Tuesday night in Stillwater, Okla.

Kirk punched a two-out two-run single up the middle to highlight a four-run Shocker third.

Garrett Bayliff opened the third with a single, one of his four singles, and Casey Gillaspie walked, one of three he would receive. Chase Simpson followed with a single to load the bases. After Micah Green struck out, Tyler Baker’s infield out chased hom Bayliff.

Kirk then produced what proved to be the game-winner. Kirk scored when Dayne Parker’s single went through OSU rightfielder Gus Fish’s legs.

WSU struck in the first when Cody Bobbit struck out but reached first on a passed ball by OSU catcher Gage Green, who was catching his first game of the season.

Bayliff singled and Gillaspie walked to load the bases for Simpson, who singled in Bobbit. Micah Green’s sacrifice fly scored Bayliff.

Kris Gardner, making his first start of the season, picked up the victory, going three innings and striking out three. Foster Vielock earned his fourth save.
