Daylight saving time to move back Ring of Fire at Keeper of the Plains

This Friday and Saturday night are the last chance this season to catch an earlier lighting of the Ring of Fire at the Keeper of the Plains before daylight saving time starts Sunday morning.

The five fire pots at the base of the statue are lighted at 7 p.m. during standard time. Once daylight saving time starts, at 2 a.m. Sunday, the ring will be lighted at 9 p.m.

The fire pots blaze for 15 minutes every night of the year, as long as the wind is not too stiff or the river too high.

The Keeper of the Plains and its plaza are at the confluence of the Arkansas and Little Arkansas rivers downtown. Parking can be found to the north off Central by the Keeper of the Plains, and in the far end of Exploration Place’s parking lot to the south of the Keeper. The bridge on the south side provides the best view of the Ring of Fire.
