Police investigating after man stabbed on South Market

A man was hospitalized in critical condition following a stabbing reported Thursday night in the 800 block of South Market, near downtown.

A Sedgwick County dispatcher said that after receiving the wounds, the man asked someone to call 911 on his behalf. Authorities responded to the address, which is south of Kellogg and west of Broadway, and he was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis for treatment, the dispatcher said.

Dispatch said the man was in his 50s. The stabbing was reported a few minutes before 9 p.m., the dispatcher said.

Wichita police are investigating.
