Haven’s City Council has approved the zoning needed to build a new gas processing facility next to the existing Panhandle Eastern booster station plant southwest of Haven.

The Tenawa Gas Processing facility will extract liquid components from the raw natural gas received from the Panhandle Eastern’s interstate pipeline.

The new facility is expected to bring an additional 12 to 15 jobs and include an office, control room, tower complexes, turbines, generators and other equipment. The facility will occupy about 7 acres. Construction is set to begin in early spring and be done by December.

“This unique processing facility takes advantage of the outstanding resource of natural gas available at the Haven Panhandle Eastern facility and introduces a value added component to this resource,” Harland Priddle, executive director of the K-96 Corridor Development Association, said in a statement. “The job creation and capital investment will benefit not only the immediate area along the K-96 corridor but will bring the opportunity for future development in the future.”
