Prosecutors on Wednesday charged a 50-year-old Wichita man with sexually assaulting a teen multiple times over the past year, starting when the teen was 13.

Kurt A. Powell is accused of two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and one count of indecent liberties with a child for “unlawfully engaging in lewd fondling or touching” of the teen between Feb. 9, 2013, and Feb. 28, according to a criminal complaint filed in Sedgwick County District Court. The teen was 13 and 14 at the time.

Powell is being held in Sedgwick County Jail on $150,000 bond. He is due back in court March 19.

Two of the crimes fall under Jessica’s Law, which requires a mandatory prison sentence of life without parole eligibility for 25 years for adults convicted of certain sex acts with children younger than 14.
