A 20-year-old man suffered serious injuries over the weekend after two men poured boiling water on him as he lay in bed.

The attackers were angry because the victim told them they had to move out of his Kansas City apartment in the 4000 block of Willow Avenue.

The victim said he allowed the men, both in their 40s, to stay there a few days. After he told them they had to leave Friday, they refused. He then went to bed.

Several hours later, the men barged into his bedroom yelling. One man dumped the hot water on him and the other man jumped on him and began punching him in the head.

When the beating stopped, the victim ran out of the apartment for help. He had severe burns over his chest and neck, police said.

When police went to the apartment to collect evidence, they arrested one person. The other suspect remained at large.
