Police have made little progress in Friday’s shooting of a man near Ninth and Grove in east Wichita.

Investigators have no suspects and no motive in the shooting of a 28-year-old man in front of his house in the 900 block of North Grove shortly after 11 a.m. Friday, Capt. Doug Nolte said Monday. He was shot three or four times and was taken to Wesley Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. He is in good condition, police said.

“We do expect our victim to survive,” Nolte said. “At this point, we don’t have much to go on” in identifying suspects.

Witnesses reported seeing three men run from a black and primer gray truck after the shooting. They ran east on Eighth Street and the truck left the area.

Investigators would welcome any information people may have in connection with the incident, Nolte said. They can call 911, the felony assault/gang unit at 326-268-4191 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.

Nolte said he did not know whether the shooting victim is a documented gang member.
