Wichita, some area schools cancel Monday classes

Wichita public schools and Wichita Catholic schools have canceled classes for Monday due to inclement weather.

Monday’s cancellation will use up all available snow days for the year for public schools, which means any additional snow days after Monday could tack on more school days later this spring, USD 259 Superintendent John Allison wrote in an e-mail to parents.

Students will likely return to class on Tuesday since the weather forecast is expected to have higher temperatures, he said.

Although Catholic schools will be closed, Chancery and St. Joseph Pastoral Center will remain open, according to a Catholic Diocese spokeswoman.

Andover public schools also canceled classes for Monday, a spokeswoman announced by e-mail Sunday night.
