Two missing Rose Hill teenagers were found early Friday afternoon healthy and in good condition, authorities said.

Athenia Brinkley, 15, and Michael Conroy II, 16, had been missing since Thursday afternoon. Police dogs detected the teens in a wooded area of Rose Hill shortly after 1 p.m. Friday, a Butler County dispatcher said.

“It was basically a runaway situation,” the dispatcher said.

Rose Hill police officers are interviewing the teens to determine where they spent the night and to assess the risk that they’ll run away again, Police Chief Robert Sage said.

Sage confirmed the teens were found by dogs connected to the Butler County Search and Recovery Team. Authorities had said Conroy has a medical condition that prompted concern for his well-being.

The Butler County and Sedgwick County sheriff’s offices and a helicopter with Schreib-Air assisted with the search for the pair.
