Wichita lawyer Robert Guenthner will be recognized with an award next week by the Kansas Supreme Court.

The court will honor Guenthner, of Morris, Laing, Evans, Brock & Kennedy law firm, with the 2014 Justice Award at a ceremony scheduled for 2 p.m. March 7 in the Supreme Court courtroom on the second floor of the Kansas Judicial Center in Topeka.

“Robert Guenthner is the ideal recipient for this award,” said Chief Justice Lawton Nuss, in a news release on Friday. “He has given more than 30 years of extended, dedicated service to justice, especially as it relates to the Kansas Board for Discipline of Attorneys.”

The Supreme Court said in the release that Guenthner was chairman of the Kansas Bar Association committee that developed rules on disciplinary enforcement and was the principal draftsman of rules adopted by the Supreme Court that established the office of the disciplinary administrator.

The award includes a plaque and a $500 stipend. Guenthner’s name also will be added to the permanent list of Justice Award recipients displayed outside the Supreme Court courtroom.
