A Tribune man died Saturday when the plane he was piloting crashed into a Greeley County field, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.

Randall Fahrenholtz, 63, was heading northeast in a Vans RV-9A fixed-wing single engine plane when it went down about 11 miles west of the K-27/K-96 junction in Tribune, according to a crash report.

The cause of the fatal crash had not been determined Saturday. It happened shortly after 6 p.m., the highway patrol said.

Fahrenholtz was alone in the plane.
