Wichita police arrested a Wichita man early Friday after he allegedly assaulted his sister.

The victim told police the man threatened her with a hammer, hit her with a chair, punched her and threatened to kill her with a knife, police said.

The man, 39, was arrested at an apartment in the 300 block of West 21st Street, accused in the assault on his 37-year-old sister, said Wichita police Lt. Doug Nolte.

The victim did not need medical help and refused a ride from EMS, Nolte said. The man was taken into custody on suspicion of simple battery and domestic violence, Nolte said.
