Stacey Clark

Vice president for operations, Valley State Bank

Ever since she was a waitress in high school, at one of Belle Plaine’s few restaurants, Clark knew she wanted to work with numbers and money. She’s done that for the past 14 years at Valley State Bank in Belle Plaine.

Clark, 33, moved from Arkansas to Belle Plaine with her family when she was 12. She earned a degree in accounting from Friends University and spent six months working for Emprise Bank before being offered a job with Valley, where she started as a bookkeeper.

“I do a lot of the financial reports that are turned into the government, all the checks and balances,” she said.

Clark said her recent promotion from assistant vice president won’t change her duties, but it is more a recognition of her upcoming graduation from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

Outside work, Clark says she and her sons – Tristan, 14, and Taylor, 9 – enjoy sports.

“I do sports, they do sports. It’s always something athletic.”
