Weekend events: Shrine Circus, Valentine’s Day

The circus is in town

The 76th Annual Midian Shrine Circus will perform this weekend at Hartman Arena, 8151 N. Hartman Arena Drive. Advance tickets are $15, $20 and $25 for adults, and $5, $12 and $17 for children; add $2 at the door. Times: 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday. Arriving at least an hour before showtime is advised. Tickets are available online at www.hartmanarena.com; by phone at 800-745-3000; or in person at the Midian Shrine office at 130 N. Topeka or the Hartman box office.

Food and love songs

“If music be the food of love, sing on!” says St. James Episcopal Church, where Valentine’s Day will be celebrated all weekend with evenings of entertainment and food. Love songs for all ages will be performed alongside catered meals at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and a dessert buffet at 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $25 for adults Friday and Saturday and $12 Sunday, and $20 for students Friday and Saturday and $7 Sunday. Call 316-683-5686 Friday for reservations. The church is at 3750 E. Douglas.

Valentine wine pairing

Wyldewood Cellars in Mulvane will have a Valentine’s Day Wine Pairing from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the winery off the Kansas Turnpike at Mulvane Exit 33. Wine will be served with chocolate, cheese and other foods. The cost is $25. Call 316-554-9463 by noon Friday for reservations.
