Citizens Bank of Kansas plans to relocate its branch in south Wichita next week.

Jane Deterding, chairwoman of the Kingman-based bank, said next Monday the bank will move the office to leased space at 678 E. 47th South, across the street from its current location at 615 E. 47th.

“It’s a much better configuration for us,” she said.

The branch will be closer to 47th, she said, and will have signs on the front and back of the building, which she said will be visible from Interstate 135.

Deterding said the new space previously was a Quiznos sandwich shop with a drive-up window. “We are going to utilize that,” she said.

The 47th Street branch previously was an office of Western Credit, a consumer finance company operated by Citizens’ holding company. In September, King Bancshares converted Western Credit offices to Citizens Bank offices.

Next month, the 47th Street office will begin offering some retail banking services, she said.

The branch employs five people.
