Volunteers are needed to help deliver Meals on Wheels.

Senior Services Inc. of Wichita issued a press release Wednesday saying drivers are needed to deliver meals. The winter storm that shut down services and forced the agency to cancel its meal deliveries in Wichita on Tuesday and Wednesday means the 960 clients are now out of emergency backup meals. Deliveries must be made on Thursday. The fact that many of the clients are frail, elderly and homebound, makes the delivery of the meals on Thursday crucial.

“Missing two days of safety checks is very dangerous for such a high risk group,” the news release said.

People who would like to volunteer are encouraged to call Senior Services Inc. of Wichita at 316-267-0122 and leave a voice message.
