The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is again warning of a scam in which someone is calling people and telling them they missed their jury duty and have to pay fines.

At least several people have been targeted for payment of bogus fines, the Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

In one instance, someone paid $500, sheriff’s Lt. David Mattingly said.

Anyone getting such a call should not give any information or money but instead hang up and call sheriff’s investigators at 316-660-5300 or call 911 after business hours, Mattingly said.
