The parent company of Wesley Medical Center, Hospital Corporation of America, announced that its revenues for the fourth quarter totaled $8.836 billion, an increase of 4.8 percent over the same period of last year.

Net income totaled $424 million, compared to $314 million in the fourth quarter of 2012.

HCA announced that its same-facility admissions declined 1.8 percent for the quarter, and its same-facility emergency room visits declined 2.4 percent. It attributed the decline to fewer pulmonary and short-stay admissions, compared to the same period in 2012.

It also noted that the 2012 flu season was particularly severe compared to the current flu season.
