— The final piece of Kansas State’s 2014 football schedule has fallen into place. K-State will play Auburn on Sept. 18, a Thursday, at Snyder Family Stadium.

ESPN will broadcast the clash of Big 12 and SEC teams nationally in prime time.

“The chance to host a program like Auburn on ESPN’s Thursday night telecast in what will be one of the best non-conference matchups in the country next year is a terrific and unique opportunity for K-State,” athletic director John Currie said in a statement.

The Wildcats have known the date and location of their other 11 games for the upcoming season for several months, but it took until Monday for the school to announce a set time for its game with the Tigers. Currie has previously explained that the delay was caused by ESPN, which used a long and complicated process to move the game away from Saturday.

K-State’s finalized schedule will include another Thursday game on Nov. 20 at West Virginia. The Wildcats will play their other 10 games on Saturdays. They will play seven home games and five road games.

The season begins on Aug. 30 against Stephen F. Austin. Then K-State will play a rare Big 12 game in Week 2 at Iowa State. It will then come home for an open week and the Thursday game against Auburn, which is coming off an appearance in the BCS championship game.

The Wildcats then host Texas-El Paso on Sept. 27 in their final nonconference game. From there, they will jump back into Big 12 play with a home game against Texas Tech on Oct. 4. They will play at Oklahoma on Oct. 18 and host Texas the following week and Oklahoma the week after that.

Following a trip to TCU on November 8, K-State will head to West Virginia before ending the year with a home game against Kansas and a road trip to Baylor on Dec. 6.

All game times, ticket information and promotional schedules will be announced as the schedule approaches. Season tickets go on sale March 3.
