  • Published Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at 8:14 a.m.

A job fair for military veterans and the spouses of military personnel is planned for Wednesday, Feb. 5, in Wichita.

Sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and The American Legion, Hiring Our Heroes-Wichita is expected to include 35 employers who will meet with job candidates, according to a news release from the chamber.

Since the job fair project was begun in 2011, 21,600 veterans and spouses have been hired by 1,500 companies, according to the release. The Wichita fair is being held in partnership with the Army Reserve and other local partners.

It will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at American Legion Post 4, 816 N. Water.

Interested job seekers should register at hiringourheroes.org. There is no cost. Walk-in job seekers are allowed, but veterans should bring proof of service.
