Police responding to the report of a woman creating a disturbance with a weapon in southeast Wichita on Sunday night found themselves dealing with an unexpected twist: She was naked.

Officers found her in the basement of a house in the 1900 block of South Fabrique shortly before 7 p.m., Lt. Doug Nolte said. That’s near Woodlawn and Mount Vernon.

The 34-year-old woman “became verbally abusive and stated she wanted to kill someone” before trying to escape officers through the ceiling, Nolte said. The officers arrested her. Police say she headbutted an officer and kicked him in the torso after being handcuffed.

“We do believe she was under the influence of drugs,” Nolte said.

The woman was dressed and then taken via ambulance to a local hospital for an evaluation. She kicked an EMT in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, Nolte said.

Once she was medically cleared at the hospital, he said, she was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail.
