The roller coaster of temperatures took another steep plunge Sunday night and early Monday morning in the Wichita area, dropping almost 50 degrees in little more than 12 hours.

The result for Wichita will be a frigid Monday, forecasters say. Highs will only be in the low 20s, with wind chills dropping below 0 under mostly cloudy skies. North winds will be blustery, blowing steadily in the teens and gusting to nearly 30 miles an hour.

All this after a Sunday afternoon high of 62 and an overnight low projected to dive into the low teens, forecasters say.

It’ll be colder yet tonight, with highs in the single digits throughout the Wichita area and wind chills dropping below 0. Tuesday’s high could climb into the low 30s, forecasters say, with a few snow flurries possible.
