16-year-old arrested after trying to elude police

A 16-year-old boy was arrested Saturday night after trying to flee from police near Kellogg and West Street, police said.

An officer tried to stop a vehicle the boy was driving because of a possible traffic violation shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday, according to Sgt. John Hoofer, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.

But the car took off on West Street, Hoofer said, and finally came to rest after hitting several curbs at Douglas and McComas.

Hoofer said the driver may have been intoxicated and or on drugs.
