A man sought by authorities in connection with a bank robbery earlier this week in west Wichita surrendered to police Wednesday afternoon.

The man, identified in arrest records as John L. Cline, 48, called detectives “after he was made aware that we were looking for him,” Lt. Joe Schroeder said in an e-mail response to questions.

He was arrested at a house in the 2100 block of West 18th Street. A photo captured from surveillance camera footage showed a man who robbed the Intrust Bank branch inside the Dillons at 13th and West streets just before 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The man gave a note to a teller at the branch demanding money. He was given a small amount of cash and left the area in a burgundy or maroon Dodge Intrepid.
