Wichita weather: Windy and a bit warmer

Highs will rebound back into the 40s today under sunny skies in the Wichita area, forecasters say, but there’ll be plenty of wind to go along with it.

Northerly winds will be in the teens, gusting at times to nearly 25 miles an hour. Then a strong cold front pushes through the region, forecasters say, sending lows diving into the single digits overnight. Wind chills will drop well below 0.

Thursday figures to be frigid in Wichita, forecasters say, with highs only reaching the upper teens to perhaps 20. Skies will be cloudy in the morning and then gradually clear. Wind chills could be as low as -10 at times.

North-northeast winds will be in the teens, gusting to nearly 30 miles an hour at times. But those winds will ease into the single digits later in the day.

Lows Thursday night and early Friday morning will drop near single digits again, forecasters say. Winds will shift to the south but remain light.
