Downtown loft living has come to Cheney with the official opening of the renovated Antler Hotel Apartments on Saturday.

Owner Roger Zerener renovated the second floor of his long-time commercial building at 229 N. Main – built as a hotel in 1911 – into four upscale loft apartments.

The second floor hadn’t been inhabited since the 1960s and was been used for storage.

Zerener said the units rent for $500 to $700 per month. The project was all privately financed.

He said he’s had strong interest in the units and that he’s not worried about getting them filled.
