Eric Litwiller’s new job has him helping charitable causes in a slightly different way.

For the past several years, he’s worked raising money for nonprofits in central Kansas.

At Everence, a ministry of the Mennonite Church USA, he’ll help people and organizations develop plans for charitable giving.

“Obviously we try to minimize tax burdens and that sort of thing while taking their long-term goals into account,” he said.

Litwiller, 38, grew up in Indiana. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Indiana University and an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. He worked in real estate management in Chicago for six years before moving to Hesston in 2010.

“The opportunity to work for the nonprofit sector was something I’d wanted to do for quite a while,” he said.

The opportunity to be close to his married sister and her family who live in Wichita was also a factor, he said.

Outside work, Litwiller has a small organic farm and a custom wood-working business and serves on a number of nonprofit boards in Harvey County, he said.
