One woman who was injured in what Great Bend police are calling an attempted homicide is recovering in a Wichita hospital.

The woman was flown to Wesley Medical Center on Wednesday night following a shooting that injured three people in the 1400 block of Second Street in Great Bend, Joseph Johns of the Great Police Department said in a news release.

Officers who were called to the address shortly before 8 p.m. found the trio with wounds, and they were taken to a local hospital for treatment, Johns said. Two, a man and a woman, were treated and released Wednesday night.

The other woman suffered more serious injuries and was transferred to Wichita. Her condition was unknown Wednesday. Contacted by phone, Great Bend police Sgt. Gary Davis said the victims were in their 20s or 30s.

The department referred to the attack as an attempted homicide in the news release, though no motive was offered. Davis said police were still searching for the shooter late Wednesday.
