Opinion Line Extra (Jan. 15)

Business Insider magazine recently called Wichita the ninth most-depressing city in which to live. Really? I thought it was higher on the list than that.

Business Insider rated Wichita as a depressing city because of four causes. It should have added a fifth: “due to Wichita being in Kansas, which is living under “Brownbreakism.”

I’m not a K-State fan, but it shows the sportsmanship of the KU crowd when it boos the ejection of a KU player for a cheap shot. KU, rapidly becoming the school of the cheap shot.

I was born in Kansas 82 years ago but won’t be able to vote for Kris Kobach when he runs for governor.

Those on the right and the left are not always right, right? Let’s design all policies and entitlements of this great mid-state down the middle and then call it the “No Whining Project.”

Robert Gates is just the start of a long list of book authors coming out defining our president’s true ideology.

Has everyone forgotten there was no al-Qaida in Iraq before we invaded and gave control to Donald Rumsfeld and George Bush?

Unemployment compensation lasting two years was a mistake. Payments beyond one year are a disincentive to work.

Great news for the Obamacare website now. The abacus and sundial are finally working.

President Obama is burying the American dream with one inequity speech – “we hate the rich and hardworking” – after another. He did say he was going to fundamentally change America. He has, and it is not for the better.

The right wing’s response to Chris Christie’s bridge scandal appears to be that they really, really don’t like President Obama.

Methinks the Republicans better start looking for a new presidential candidate.

Adamant denials of wrongdoing in the face of seemingly contradictory evidence only bolster the likelihood that the wrongs were committed. Bill Clinton, Lance Armstrong, Alex Rodriguez, Chris Christie – and another one bites the dust.

Enough with Bridgegate already. It makes me miss Bieber news.

“Dogs of C Kennel,” “Dustin,” “Frazz,” “Red and Rover,” “Other Coast,” “Argyle Sweater,” “WuMo” – each of these Eagle comic strips appears to be drawn by a second-grader and scripted by a first-grader. Give us a break.

When I was a child many, many years ago, the comic section was called “the funny paper.” Know why it was called that? You’re right. Know why it is no longer called the funny paper? You’re right again.

The Wichita Eagle took those popular comics out to show you people who is boss.
