Kansas women get first Big 12 victory

The Kansas women’s team picked up its first Big 12 win on Saturday, beating Texas Tech 67-46 in Lawrence.

Chelsea Gardner led the Jayhawks with 16 points, CeCe Harper scored 14 and had seven assists, and Natalie Knight made three three-pointers and scored 13. Asia Boyd had 11 rebounds for Kansas (8-8, 1-3 Big 12).

Gardner scored 12 in the first half, helping KU take a 31-22 lead at the break.

The KU defense held Texas Tech (6-9, 0-4) to 29.4 percent shooting.

Oklahoma 61, Kansas State 50 — Aaryn Ellenberg scored 23 points and the Sooners beat the Wildcats in Norman.

Leticia Romero led K-State with 19 points. She hit 3 of 5 three-point shots and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. Ashia Woods added 10 points for K-State (6-9, 0-4 Big 12). Romero and Woods each had three steals.

The Sooners (11-6, 2-2) held K-State to 18 points in the first half, but only led by five as the Wildcats’ defense limited OU to 8-of-25 shooting.
