The Anderson, Mo., police on Friday issued an Amber Alert for a 6-month-old boy believed to have been abducted on Jan. 2.

Authorities say the child, Mitchell Farris, had been placed with his grandfather by the Missouri Division of Family Services. On Jan. 2 the child was taken by his father, Preston Wayne Farris, described as a 34-year-old white man, 5-feet-10-inches and 230 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He is believed to be traveling with the child’s mother, Anastasia Lynn McDaniel, described as a 30-year-old white woman, 5-feet-8-inches and 172 pounds with blue eyes. They may be traveling in a red 2004 Ford Freestar with Missouri plates UH7D2R. The vehicle’s back window has a decal of a stick figure family.

Anderson is in extreme southwestern Missouri. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Anderson police at 417-845-2681.
