City Council member Williams new chair of National League of Cities panel

Wichita City Council member Lavonta Williams is the new chair of the National League of Cities’ community and economic development steering committee.

The panel develops NLC federal policy positions on housing, community and economic development, land use, recreation and parks, historic preservation and international competitiveness.

Williams was appointed by St. Paul mayor Chris Coleman, who is the current NLC president. Her committee first meets March 8 through 12 at the congressional city conference in Washington, D.C.
