Live music at Deano’s

Deano’s Grill & Tapworks, a new sports bar at 9747 E. 21st St. becoming known for its live music, has two bands lined up for this weekend – and admission is free. On Friday night, guitarist Gary Powell will perform. Then on Saturday, popular local musicians Uche and Jerimiah Johnsen will take the stage. Yale St. Players at the Shamrock

Local group Yale St. Players will perform a show at the Shamrock, 1724 W. Douglas, starting at 9 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $5. The Yale St. Players is a Wichita-based, four-piece blues band that performs hits by blues greats such as B.B. King, Taj Mahal, Etta James, Buddy Guy and more. Open mike night at Orange Leaf

Poets, singers and otherwise talented young people are invited to participate in and watch an open mike night Friday at the Orange Leaf at 11414 E. Central. The event, sponsored by TeenView Magazine, starts at 7 p.m. The performances will start at 8 p.m. and last until 10 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call 316-928-8567.
