New Wichita Doggy Day Care owner Gary Brewer and his dog, Harley. WICHITA — Longtime Bear Automotive owner Gary Brewer has purchased Wichita Doggy Day Care, where he's been a customer until now.

"I'm an avid outdoorsman, and I've always had Labradors, and I've always had a love of dogs," Brewer says.

A couple of years ago, he began taking Harley, his most recent Labrador, to the day care. Before that, Brewer says he didn't even know businesses such as that existed.

Doggy Day Care, which he's renaming Brewer's Doggy Day Care, serves as a place for customers to drop off their dogs to play and be cared for on a daily basis.

"These dogs are just like their children," Brewer says.

Instead of leaving their dogs at home for hours a day, Brewer says the day care is "a great alternative."

There's also extended-stay boarding.

"I'm going to take it and go north with it," Brewer says of the business. "I'm going to improve it. I'm going to make changes. I'm going to offer more services."
