Aviation maintenance company to add Kansas City facility, hire 500

Aviation Technical Services, based in Everett, Wash., plans to open a new $7 million maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at the Kansas City International Airport, the company said.

The project will create 500 new jobs over the next three to five years with the potential for 1,000 employees over time at the 607,000-square-foot facility, the company said.

“This is yet another step to secure ATS’ future and ensures long-term stability for our customers, employees and company,” Matt Yerbic, the company’s CEO and president, said in a statement.

The facility will allow ATS to improve its customer service and expand its client base, the company said.

Kansas City will be its first location outside the state of Washington, where it operates two facilities.

Aviation Technical Services provides maintenance, repair and overhaul services for commercial and military transport jets.
