The Mental Health Association of South Central Kansas has purchased Water Point Apartments, 808 S. Water, near downtown, according to a news release.

The complex currently has 24 units and is about 20 percent occupied. Current residents will be allowed to stay, said Bethany Lippe, director of marketing and development for the association.

Other units will be filled with a variety of tenants from the association’s programs, including low-income seniors, homeless veterans, those leaving correctional facilities, the severely mentally ill and others who require rental assistance, Lippe said.

Lippe said the association plans to have the entire complex filled within the next week or two.

The association is not disclosing the purchasing price. The complex was built in 2004, Lippe said.
