A Willard woman’s attempt to pass another vehicle on a Chautauqua County road turned deadly for her and another driver Tuesday, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.

According to an online crash report, Linda Jo Creamer, 67, was navigating the maneuver while heading west on U.S. 166 when she lost control of the 1997 Hyundai Sonata she was driving. Creamer reportedly went into the path of eastbound traffic, where she struck a 1989 Buick LeSabre driven by 68-year-old Phillip T. Schulz of Stafford.

The highway patrol reports that both Schulz and Willard died in the crash.

It happened shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday, two miles south of Sedan, the patrol said.
