Ark City hospital to offer recruitment awards for doctors, others

A hospital in Arkansas City says it will start to offer rewards of up to $5,000 to people who provide leads that end in the hiring of medical professionals, according to a news release.

The Family and Friends Networking Program will offer the reward if a physician, registered nurse or other specified professional is hired full time. The size of the reward varies based on the kind of provider hired.

South Central Kansas Medical Center officials say the program is a sign of the difficulty that smaller hospitals have in attracting medical providers, according to the release.

“Financial limitations, larger patient loads, and frequent on-call coverage requirements are generally considered hurdles that push the majority of physicians towards larger markets,” according to the release.
