Readers submitted nearly 400 photos for the Wichita Eagle’s Holiday Pet Photo Contest. We had no idea that cats were so fond of holiday apparel.

In addition to cats climbing Christmas trees and dogs posing as reindeer, readers submitted photos of birds, hedge hogs, a pig, a horse and a bearded dragon in a tiny Santa hat. It was difficult, but newsroom staff chose the 17 finalists that are being published in the paper and at Kansas.com today. Now, the rest is up to you.

Go to Kansas.com/pets and follow the link to vote for your favorite pet photo. Voting is limited to one vote per e-mail address per day. The person who submitted the photo that gets the most votes will receive a $150 gift card. The second and third place winners will each receive a $75 gift card. Voting ends at noon Dec. 26 and the winners will be announced Dec. 29.
